The leading principle for licensing IAR PowerPac is seat licensing, meaning that each user needs one IAR PowerPac license per microcontroller architecture.
Licensing of IAR PowerPac is royalty-free, and a seat license of IAR PowerPac can be used for an unlimited number of projects and applications provided that you use 1) IAR Embedded Workbench to create the executable code and 2) the same microcontroller architecture.
For example, you can use IAR PowerPac for ARM together with IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM to create any number of applications running on an ARM device.
Following the concept of the seat licensing, there are two multi-user licensing models introduced for simplicity and cost benefits for larger development teamsGroup License and Site License. |
Network License |
| The network license is convenient and cost efficient for a team of developers. A complete product package is delivered for each user and new users can be added to an existing network license. The network license requires license server software, that is included in the delivery. It is connected to a hardware lock, which makes it easy to move the license to another server and to avoid difficulties in case of hardware failure. Please note that there is a 30 minutes time lock after linking. |
Group License |
A Group License is a multi-user license, and allows for up to 20 users to use IAR PowerPac on a specified site.
The Group License includes the IAR PowerPac Source Edition; see product packages for details. |
Site License |
A Site License is a multi-user license, and allows for an unlimited number of users to use IAR PowerPac on a specified site.

Important Notice on Source Code Versions |
If you are licensing IAR PowerPac in a version that includes source code, your company must first enter into and execute a written Software License Agreement (PDF) with IAR Systems, before the product can be delivered to you.
