| Welcome to e-News from IAR Systems |
The RTOS theme continues this month with an article about Micrium's µCOS-II and power management. In Developer's Toolbox, you'll find in-depth information about integral types.
New versions of IAR Embedded Workbench are available for the following architectures: Atmel AVR, ARM, and Renesas R32C.
Best regards,

| The behavior of integral types |
When you read the ISO/ANSI C standard, some points look all clear on paper, but when you compile your code it turns out that it does everything except what you wanted it to do! Some parts of the standard need to be analyzed before you fully understand their behavior, and can take advantage of them. Click to continue... |

| µC/OS-II—the heart of good power management |
Test examples have shown that some microprocessors may be in idle mode (not doing anything useful) for 60–80% of their operating time. Using µC/OS-II in combination with its idle task may significantly reduce power consumption and the CPU overhead by ensuring that the CPU is in its lowest possible power mode whenever it is idle.
