| Welcome to e-News from IAR Systems |
At Embedded World in Germany a few weeks ago, LEGO® MINDSTORMS® NXT drew a lot of attention in the IAR Systems booth. Today we're happy to provide an article that describes how to program it using IAR visualSTATE and IAR Embedded Workbench.
In need of training? Netrino runs the Embedded Software Boot Camp in Columbia, MD and Feaser offers a class on Application Development with µC/OS-II in Germany. Both events are in May; links are available below.
Best regards,

Ever wonder what may lie under the hood of some of today’s toys aimed at our youth? You may be somewhat surprised to find that no longer are the days of entertainment centered solely around a 555 timer circuit. What if I told you that toys geared toward ten year olds and older may be an ideal platform for your own personal enrichment? Sound interesting? Well, that is exactly what in fact is delivered in a LEGO® MINDSTORMS® NXT robot kit. Click to continue... |

A few years ago, the future of the 8- and 16-bit MCU was being questioned. As embedded applications grew more and more complex, the hardware scene was likely to be dominated by FPGAs, ASICS, CPLDs and SOCs. Would the traditional general purpose MCU survive? Click to continue... |

| Embedded Software Boot Camp: May 4–8 in Columbia, MD |
The Embedded Software Boot Camp™ is a one-week skills strengthening program consisting of a series of lectures and hands-on exercises based on Netrino's Zero Bugs...Period design methodology. The fun and educational program is guaranteed to quickly and dramatically raise the embedded programming skills of individuals and teams.
The coding exercises are based on an ARM9 processor board from STMicroelectronics and Micrium's popular µC/OS-II RTOS. Students use IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM and associated JTAG debugger to compile, download, and test their real-time programs.

| Application development with µC/OS-II: May 14–15 in Duesseldorf, Germany |
This 2-day training class uses hands-on exercises combined with instruction to illustrate the concepts of the µC/OS-II real-time operating system and how it is applied in embedded application development, requiring hard real-time performance. This class is architected for everyone interested in or tasked with developing an embedded software application based on Micrium's µC/OS-II real-time operating system. The evaluation board used for the class exercises is the EKI-LM3S6965 from Luminary Micro.
After completing this training class, participants have a good understanding of the µC/OS-II kernel and its services, gained skills in using the operating system and can use it effectively in their own embedded application development projects.
Arranged by Feaser. |
