Job Description & Responsibilities

The Field Applications Engineer is a member of IAR Systems Americas’ distinguished Sales department. As a technical expert of IAR Systems Integrated Development Environment tools solution, the FAE is responsible for developing professional relationships with customers and partners, performing pre-sales support and conducting technical presentations as well as contribute with strategies aimed at growing IAR Systems’ business in the embedded systems segment. The FAE is also expected to maintain a high standard of technical knowledge of IAR Systems’ products and its technology alliance partners’ products and services.

Primary duties and responsibilities

  • Conduct webinars and on-site presentations of IAR Systems’ tools
  • Understand and assist customers in managing their embedded design programs
  • Provide post-sales technical support to key accounts
  • Articulate IAR Systems’ competitive advantages from hardware and software tools perspectives
  • Develop a good understanding of the sales process pertaining to the embedded market
  • Possess strong communication skills, the ability to build relationships, and create good rapport with customers and IAR Systems’ global organization
  • Flexibility to travel (within North America)

 The ideal candidate will have

  • BS or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science
  • Knowledge of C and C++ languages in the Embedded Applications
  • Experience of developing firmware in embedded systems
  • Ability to communicate thoroughly and conduct a well-constructed presentation
  • At least five years of experience in software engineer or applications engineering
  • Positive attitude with the ability to inspire confidence in customers and partners
  • Strong desire to be a key part of a winning team
  • Experience with ARM Cortex-M/R/A architectures and ARM CoreSight debugging is a big plus
  • Knowledge of the RISC-V architecture and standard extensions is a plus
