How to migrate to IAR Embedded Workbench

Porting projects from one toolchain to another can be nuisance, to say the least. However, when porting to IAR Embedded Workbench there are several ways this task can be simplified.

Project converter tools

We provide tools to create an IAR Embedded Workbench project file using a project file from another tool as the input. The tools can convert source code files and the project files, and will automatically transfer information such as file groups, source file names, defined symbols, include paths, build configurations and exclude-from-build.

The following converter tools are currently available:

  • Keil μVision to IAR Embedded Workbench for Arm
  • Atollic TrueSTUDIO to IAR Embedded Workbench for Arm
  • Keil µVision to IAR Embedded Workbench for 8051 
  • Renesas HEW or e2 studio to IAR Embedded Workbench for RX
  • Renesas HEW to IAR Embedded Workbench for H8
  • Renesas CS+ to IAR Embedded Workbench for RL78
  • Texas Instruments Code Composer Studio to IAR Embedded Workbench for MSP430
  • Atmel Studio to IAR Embedded Workbench for AVR (currently in beta)

You can access the project converter tools from within the IAR Embedded Workbench IDE, from the Tools menu.
