License Manager 2.17.3 not starting

Version 2.17.3 of the IAR License Manager can fail to start if you have added a license server manually that does not respond. This can be, for example, because the server name was mistyped, the server is not running, or the server cannot be reached.


A quick workaround to get started with a new license is to activate the license using LightLicenseManager.exe instead.

To get the full License Manager running again, remove or correct the name of the manually added server in the file

  • C:\ProgramData\IARSystems\LicenseManagement\Settings\CommonSettings.xml
  • A possible solution can be to use an IP address instead of server name.

Version 2.17.4 of the IAR License Manager can be downloaded here and used with the IAR Embedded Workbench installation to remove the problem. Installation instructions:

  • Place the zip archive in your_installation_directory\common\ and unpack it.
  • Accept all replacements of files when the installer asks.
