Introduction
This Technical Note applies to IAR System products that uses License Management System version 2 (LMS2).
Background
An IAR Embedded Workbench product with LMS2 uses one installer for all license types such as Standard, Time-limited, Size-limited etc.

This Tech Note applies when you use any of the following product(s) with the mentioned versions (or later). Please Note - There is an older behavior (see far below), and there is the present behavior.

Change licensing model of an IAR Embedded Workbench installation
Move to Full from Time-/Size-limited evaluation
IAR Embedded Workbench is already installed, so what is needed is to select a license that unlocks Full/unrestricted use. (I.e. this applies provided that the Full license has been activated.)
- Start the 2.xx IAR License Manager.
- In the IAR License Manager, choose View > Product List.
- Double-click the product to display the License Details dialog box.
- Select the license you want to use from the Selected license drop-down list.
Move between Time-limited eval to Size-limited eval
Present behavior
- From the License menu select Get Evaluation License....
- In the wizard that pops up, choose Register, make a new registration and select the evaluation alternative that you want to move to.
- When you have received the new license number, activate this license as usual.
Old behavior
- In the IAR License Manager, double click on the license to open the detailed view.
- In the Selected license drop down list, select <no selected license>.
- Close the detailed view.
- From the License menu select Get Evaluation License....
- In the wizard that pops up, choose Register, make a new registration and select the evaluation alternative that you want to move to.
- When you have received the new license number, activate this license as usual.
