Software licenses for students
We offer discounts to universities and non-commercial organizations when purchasing licenses for educational, non-commercial purposes.
The university of Uppsala, Sweden was founded in 1477. About 500 years later, in the 1980's, IAR Systems was the first company in the world to take on the challenge of developing a C compiler for 8051. The fact that IAR Systems is based in Uppsala is no coincidence. Universities all over the world have a huge impact on business development.
Educational licensing options
For IAR Embedded Workbench and IAR Visual State, we offer discounts to universities and non-commercial organizations when purchasing licenses for educational, non-commercial purposes:
- We offer one network license, for five users, at the standard price of one PC-locked license. If additional seats are required the price will be one fifth of the standard PC-locked license price per additional user.
- We also offer mobile or PC-locked licenses with 50% discount.
Please note:
- The Educational Discount is not applicable for development kits, hardware debug probes or hardware locks.
- A Support and Update Agreement (SUA) is not included for educational licenses

A completed form must be attached to the purchase order when applying for an educational discount. Fill out the form and contact your closest IAR Systems office to get started.
