Troubleshooting dongles

This Technical Note gives suggestions to solve situations when the computer does not find the dongle.


Make sure that the dongle matches the license is connected.

Updating the dongle driver

Sometimes installing the latest version of the dongle driver solves the problem.

Download the driver via this link: Sentinel System Driver.

If your computer does not have a parallel port you should only install the USB driver. The document Pictures.pdf shows how to perform a custom installation for only the USB port, only the parallel port, or for both.

Note: To install the driver you must have Administrative rights.

Note: The dongle should be unplugged when you update the driver.

Note: You might need to restart the computer.

Other methods that can help:

  • Try a different USB port
  • Remove USB hubs and similar between the dongle and computer.
