Renesas Electronics

Renesas logoThe cooperation between IAR Systems and Renesas Electronics started in the middle of 1980. Renesas Electronics was one of the first partners to whom IAR Systems developed a third party C compiler.

Today IAR Systems is the biggest independent tool vendor for processors from Renesas Electronics.

Renesas Electronics is a major player in system LSIs, including microcomputers, logic and analog devices, discrete devices and memory products, including flash memory and SRAM.

RL78

RL78 microcontrollers provide low-power and high performance covering the demands of the 8/16-bit market with a single family. It is based on the 78K0R architecture with integrated peripherals inherited from the R8C family, both being architectures from which IAR Systems has thorough experience.

78K0, 78K0S and 78K0R

The range begins with the 78K0S low pin count family, which includes a wide range of peripherals and large Flash versions, and is supplied either with high speed A/Ds or without A/Ds for increased cost optimisation where they are not required.

The 78K0 8-bit family, ranging from 30- to 8-pins with up to 128K Flash onboard, offers low power consumption across a wide voltage range, thanks to its pioneering 0.15um technology. As well as general purpose products, dedicated line-ups for LCD control, CAN control and 3-phase motor control are also available.

The 16-bit K0R family, sharing the same 0.15um technology, takes low power consumption a step further, offering market-leading power / performance. With complete software compatibility with the K0 family, it's easy to upgrade, with the IAR C/C++ Compiler automatically updating with the newest, most efficient instructions.
