IAR Systems adds extensive functionality to world-leading tools for Texas Instruments MSP430

Uppsala, Sweden—June 29, 2012—IAR Systems® has released a new version of its world-leading embedded development tool suite for the ultra-low-power 16-bit MSP430 microcontroller family from Texas Instruments (TI), and continues to deliver functionality for ease-of-use and high performance.

IAR Embedded Workbench® for MSP430, version 5.50, includes a new text editor and source browser. The new editor introduces user-friendly features such as auto-completion, code folding, block selection, block indentation, bracket matching, and zooming. Word/paragraph navigation have also been improved, and parameter hints show the function arguments. The new features makes it easier for embedded developers to quickly navigate through their code, and enables more efficient code writing with fewer key strokes.

Recently added to IAR Embedded Workbench for MSP430 was an integration of the new ULP Advisor™ code analysis software tool from Texas Instruments. TI’s ULP Advisor software is a power-optimization teaching tool. It provides a static code analyzer that flags software code and offers tips and tricks to help developers understand where they can improve their code line-by-line to minimize power consumption and achieve ultra-low-power performance.
