Build actions and Argument variables
Technical Note 68992
The command line for Build actions can use Argument variables.
Issues can for example be:
- I want shorter/relative paths for my build actions.
- My Argument variables are not evaluated as I expect.
Try using Argument variables in the text box specifying the build action.
Argument variables (See Help > IDE Project Management and Building Guide for more info, including list of available ones) allow certain paths to be relative.
Argument variables are not Environment Variables, in other words, Argument variables are not automatically available for evaluation inside scripts.
See Technical Note 95375 where part of the solution is to use a build action.
The command line for Build actions becomes clearer with Argument variables.
