Note: - This applies to legacy versions of IAR Embedded Workbench (2013 and older) which used License Management System version 1 (LMS1).

Introduction

This technical note gives advice on installing version 7.5.2 of the dongle driver. Version 7.5.2 is the most recent version tested with LMS1.

Discussion

Try these actions to force LMS1 to use the latest dongle driver. The suggestion is to do them in the listed order.

Action A. Check if computer has a later dongle driver

Check if the computer does not have a dongle driver later that 7.5.2.

  1. Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
  2. Look for items named Sentinel System Driver Installer
  3. If the version number is higher than 7.5.2, try to use that dongle driver with the legacy version of IAR Embedded Workbench.

If that works, stop here.

If it does not work, consider if this computer will run only IAR Embedded Workbench versions that use LMS1.

  • If this computer will continue to run modern IAR Embedded Workbench versions, install the legacy version on another computer.
  • If this computer will run only product versions that use LMS1, continue to action B.

Action B. Remove existing dongle driver(s)

In most situations, the LMS1 can use modern dongle drivers, but if it do not work then:

  1. Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
  2. Click on Sentinel System Driver Installer
  3. Click Uninstall.

Important – If there are, several items in Add/Remove Programs) called Sentinel System Driver Installer, perform Uninstall on ALL of them.

Action C. Install driver version 7.5.2

  1. Download the installer for Dongle driver 7.5.2.
  2. Run the installer to install the dongle driver.
